Synopsis: Based on the ghostly Scottish folklore inspired by the Greek mermaids, the story takes place in 1846 on a remote island off the west coast of Scotland, where three survivors of the mysterious sinking of a merchant ship are trapped in a small misty island. The island’s only four secret residents, an old man from the port, a farmer, his niece and a young woman who does not walk very well in the head, are anything but welcoming and reluctant to help the sailors return to the mainland. The promise of a ship never materializes, which leads one of the sailors to wonder why people had left the island. Through his research, he discovers that every year, on the same date, a tragedy would occur in the sea and young people of the island would perish. When his two companions meet with fatal accidents, the myth of a ghostly mermaid that runs through the island leads him to try to discover the truth. Watch more history movies without any membership.
